The NFFC provides serious fly fishermen with right of entry to a roster of waters across five regions spanning from the upper Drakensberg in the north to Greytown in the east and Richmond in the west, offering a range of species, terrains and experiences.
Our waters
CENTRAL MIDLANDS
The central midlands waters are popular for their proximity to where most live. Spanning a triangle between Karkloof, PMB and Dargle, the several dams and rivers with all targeted species represented.
BOSTON & RICHMOND
Located southwest of Pietermaritzburg, the Boston and Richmond feels quite different to the other regions in the NFFC fold, with warmer waters, rocky terrain and the mighty Umkomaas River teeming with Natal Yellowfish.
KAMBERG & UNDERBERG
Situated about 90km northwest of Maritzberg, the foothills of the Drakensberg provides some of the most exciting still and moving waters in the province, with several sections of the Mooi River delivering superb trout fishing.
DARGLE & NOTTINGHAM
Closer to the capital, the Dargle and Nottingham areas offer lower sections of the Mooi and Lions Rivers, with a number of farm dams providing excellent angling for trout, yellowfish and bass.
FURTHER AFIELD
For the more adventurous, waters in the Northern Drakensberg are more remote, but with that comes the promise of pristine rivers, breathtaking backdrops and some impressively large trout.
